To date, The Big Bandstand website is the most in-depth (and had the longest production time) of any project I’ve worked on. The retro aesthetic of the logo is expanded with the use of typefaces, palette, and texture. Users can read up on the host, learn the history of the music, look up playlists for past shows, and more.
Research
Being a show about music, I took a lot of inspiration from Jazz & Swing magazines of the day. Their limited color palette and bold (for its time) use of type was a style I wanted to emulate.
